The Familiars is an upcoming 2014 3-D computer-animated film produced by Sony Pictures Animation. The film is based on the first volume of children's fantasy book series written by Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson.
It is being directed by Doug Sweetland, the director of Pixar's short film Presto,[1] co-directed by Fergal Reilly,[2] and produced by Josh Donen and Sam Raimi. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release sometime in 2014.[3]
After being whisked away to an evil kingdom by a nefarious queen, three young wizard apprentices must rely on their animal companions—an alley cat named Aldwyn, a blue jay known as Skylar, and a tree frog called Gilbert—to escape.[4]
